Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Backend toolbar buttons can have individually configured labels and permission requirements. Buttons that require access are shown only to backend users who have the necessary permissions; buttons without permission requirements remain available as configured. When no custom label is provided, the button uses its default translated label.

Walkthrough

evalToolbarButtons retrieves the current backend user and supports button configurations with optional permissions and labels. It omits buttons when the user lacks a configured permission. It uses a configured label when present, or a translated default otherwise. Tests cover default labels, configured labels, mixed formats, and permission filtering. An unrecognized button type without a label causes an unhandled match error.

Some custom relation toolbar configurations can now prevent relation initialization from completing. Preserve pipe-separated custom-button behavior and handle unlabeled custom types before merging.

Keep the label fallback safe for unknown button types.

If a configured button type has no label and is not one of the listed types, this match throws UnhandledMatchError. Relation initialization then fails instead of rendering the other buttons. Add a default arm that preserves the previous fallback behavior. (php.net)

This match has no default, so a custom button type now throws. toolbarButtons: create|mybutton (with a button_mybutton partial in the controller) gives UnhandledMatchError: Unhandled match case 'mybutton', and so does mybutton: { permissions: [...] } without a label. On develop the switch falls through and the label is just mybutton.

Adding a default keeps that behaviour:

    'unlink' => 'backend::lang.relation.unlink',
    default => $type,
};
