📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughThe Select component now displays a check mark for a selected item in single-selection mode and retains checkboxes in multiple-selection mode. The component also supports Suggested reviewers: Priority: ⬇️ Low Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to When aligned positioning cannot be used, side and align can still control popup placement, contrary to the current documentation. and `align` have no effect only while aligned positioning is active; preserve

Summary
Show a check mark (
Select.ItemIndicator) on the selected item in single-choice mode, in both the plain and the autocomplete (Combobox.ItemIndicator) paths. Multiple mode keeps its checkbox.Wrap plain-mode item text in
Select.ItemText, and letSelect.ContenttakealignItemWithTrigger. It still defaults tofalse.New slot:
select-item-indicator. Docs, props, and data-slot tests are updated. Why it's like this: the Base UI migration (feat: migrate Select to Base UI #591) drew items with a custom render that added a checkbox only in multiple mode.
alignItemWithTrigger={false}was hard-coded because, withoutItemText, Base UI cannot line the item up with the trigger.Breaking: single-choice items gain an indicator element, so their layout shifts slightly. The popup portal moves to the stacked follow-up PR, because portaled items do not mount until the first open, and the trigger label still depends on mounted items here.
