How do I know if my PKC is indeed using direct paths? #2157

Open

Description

@Shamir26071

I've done all the steps and I'm able to play the files. But how do I double confirm it's via direct paths? When I go to my Plex dashboard, it still says direct play

    If the files play - you're good 🤣 . You could check the Kodi log files, but that seems like an unnecessary hassle (https://kodi.wiki/view/Log_file)

    Then why does the option say "Try direct paths"? That implies that it falls back to something else if it fails.

    What do you mean? I don't follow

    @gshpychka

    In PKC Settings -> Playback -> Preferred playback method, the option is called Try Direct Path, as opposed to just Direct Path.

    Yeap that's what I have it on as per the instructions.

    @Shamir26071 true, forgot about this setting. Just use "Direct paths" instead of "try direct paths", restart Kodi to make absolutely sure the setting change sticks, then see if you can play anything

    Only have 'Try Direct path option'
    No 'Direct paths' only image

    That's not one of the options.

    Then have a look at the log files, @Shamir26071. You can e.g. search for the Direct Path you pluged into the Kodi settings to find the relevant sections quickly.

    Is there a way to tell from the Plex server's dashboard?

    I think you can see it in Tautulli, the bandwith is 0 when it plays with Direct Path.
