Follow-up: Formal Request for Redmi Note 15 4G (spinel) Android 16 / Linux 6.12.30 Kernel Source #41168

Hello Xiaomi Open Source Team,

I am following up on previous requests for the complete corresponding kernel source code for the Redmi Note 15 4G (spinel).

As of October 16, 2026, I have not received a substantive response to my request submitted on August 25, 2026.

The device runs Android 16 / HyperOS 3 with a reported Linux 6.12.30 kernel. The existence of an older source branch does not establish that the complete corresponding source for this newer kernel has been made available.

I am actively developing a custom kernel for this device, and access to the matching source is important for device compatibility, debugging, security research, and continued community development.

I respectfully request that Xiaomi:

1. Publish the complete corresponding source code for the Linux 6.12.30 kernel distributed with spinel, including applicable device-specific modifications and build files.
2. Provide a direct link to the matching source release or clarify where the corresponding source and any applicable written offer can be obtained.
3. Provide a substantive response explaining the current status and expected availability of the source.

If I do not receive a substantive response or a clear resolution within 14 days of this request, I intend to submit the matter to the Software Freedom Conservancy's GPL compliance team for review and assessment of Xiaomi's applicable GPLv2 obligations.

This request is made in good faith. My goal is to obtain clarification and ensure that the applicable open-source licensing obligations are fulfilled.
