This issue regarding Popup Fade Delay configuration and live updates has been resolved in my fork!
Context & What Changed
Root Cause: Previously, KeysController read settings.ItemFadeDelay only once at application startup (TimeSpan.FromSeconds(settings.ItemFadeDelay)). Any changes made to the Popup Fade Delay slider in Preferences were saved to disk for the next launch, but had no effect on the running session until Carnac was restarted. Additionally, out-of-range values were not clamped.
The Fix:
Updated KeysController to evaluate settings.ItemFadeDelay dynamically as each key message arrives (clamped safely to 1–50 seconds), so adjusting the Popup Fade Delay slider in Preferences -> General takes effect immediately on the very next keystroke without restarting Carnac.
Upcoming Release: This will be included in the next official release, which will be published to GitHub Releases (both installer and portable .zip), WinGet (winget install doggy8088.Carnac), and Chocolatey.

You will need to exit Carnac and reopen it to get the updated fade delay to work
