I’d like GitHub’s web UI to display the line ending style used in a file, per file and, also during review (line ending changes, desired and haphazard ones).

Why this matters:

• Cross-platform development regularly runs into line ending issues.
• Reviewers need to distinguish content changes from line-ending normalization (or denormalization).
• Local editors commonly show whether a file uses LF, CRLF, or CR, but this is not visible to me in GitHub’s web interface.
• This would help with incremental repository normalization work.

Suggested behavior:

• Show the detected line ending style for a viewed file, such as LF, CRLF, or CR.
• Expose it in pull request diff views, at least when line endings are different, ideally also when they deviate from .gitattributes settings.
• Ideally make it available in all experiences, file viewer and review and edit.

Example use case:
A cross-platform team working across Windows, macOS, and Linux needs to quickly confirm whether a file is using LF or CRLF and whether it was changed according to policy, without cloning the repository locally.

Related:
Git already helps with line-ending normalization through Git configuration and .gitattributes.
.editorconfig also prescribes desired line endings.
